Pre-Sunday (ie. Saturday)
Last week, I was house sitting for my sister. It was Saturday, I was hungry, and nothing was on TV. So I went out and got food, along with renting a few movies. In short, I ended up staying up way too late watching a bunch of comedy flicks. The next morning, I missed the first part of church and had to talk myself into going to the second sermon.
Ironically enough, God has a way of pointing things out to you in pretty comical ways. Our pastor spoke on what we do on Saturday greatly effects our attitude on Sunday. That was true of me, and I couldn’t help but feel everyone was staring at me. (they weren’t, but you know…)
So fast-forward through the week, getting websites designed, going to see Fireproof with a group of other couples (great movie by the way, go see it), we come to Saturday night. I wanted a few minutes away from the 22 inch LCD screen, so I pulled out my iPhone to listen to music and stare at the 3 inch LCD screen. (sigh) I went on listening to the music until the first explicit word used caught me off guard. Now I do listen to music with not-so-great language sometimes, I won’t candy coat that, but normally I don’t get hit like I did.
My pastor’s list of things to do on Saturday flew threw my mind, and without further thought, I brought forward the iPod controls, and switched the listening to Enfield.  Needless to say, that time I spent listening to Christ-centered lyrics brought me to tears, and was a great time of worship.
I would strongly suggest that if you spend your Saturday doing what I have done so often, try switching it around and focus more on Christ. It truly is a great gift.
